This project began at the end of my husband and I's honeymoon. We arrived at our final hotel, The Slow in Changuu, Bali and were immediately struck by their taste and overall minimal and established design. I grabbed my camera just before evening began to break and heavily explored the carefully curated boutique hotel where we would spend the next couple days. We walked away from our stay at the Slow thoughtfully inspired and I couldn't help but look at my photos and ask, "what's next?"
Through my exploration, I found that The Slow was a brand that could easily cross the boarders of Indonesia and be an inspiration in the design world that we know here in the US. I began laying out my images and jotting down my overall impressions like wildfire. As I began to marry the content together, I found that there was an opportunity to craft a magazine that could live on countless coffee tables in studios, curated homes and shops. Thus, The Slow / The Lowdown was born.

These were the pieces I began to gather that would eventually turn into The Slow / The Lowdown. I pulled inspiration from their website and scowered their social media accounts to discover more of their inspirations as well. The typography choices mimic those found on their website and my photography style was also tailered to compliment their existing content as well.

The layout found within the pages of The Slow / The Lowdown can be described as minimal and consistent. Overall, the images and copy are meant to give readers a taste of what The Slow has to offer without trying to create a sales pitch. The overall interest of the content should inspire readers in their own personal travels and design exploration.
