SHE: A story of Her

Knott

This project emerged from the depths of a journey I have been on in my life. It is one filled with doubt, difficult, pain, realization, triumph and ultimately, victory. This story is one that is highly personal but still able to draw an audience in and give them the ability to step in and say themselves, "this is my story."

When I first shared this with a friend, I was encouraged to print it and bring it to life. Later, this book was sold at a fundraiser and has continued circulating around my community and beyond. If you would like your own copy of SHE please let me know and I would love to get you a copy.

Working on this project has been 18 years in the making. The founder of New Hope Girls, Joy Reyes, was my second and third grade teacher. Throughout the last couple decades, our lives have been intriquitely woven together. In 2015, I was an intern for the organization and spent the better part of a year living among these New Hope Girls. I learned how to live and breath as they did and watched the beauty and pain and transformation unfold before my eyes every single day I spent with them.

Fast forward 3 years later and I was commissioned in September 2018 to begin rebranding the organization from the ground up. The task was this: Learn how to tell our story cohesively, concisely, and beautifully. I have made three trips to the Dominican Republic throughout the project and will continue to be a voice and stakeholder for the brand at large.
